Diva/Impresario Celebration Luncheon

The Opera Society’s Diva/Impresario Luncheon is one of Fort Lauderdale’s most anticipated spring traditions—an elegant celebration of artistry, philanthropy, and community spirit.
This year we honor a true visionary: Dr. Arturo di Filippi, founder of The Opera Guild of Greater Miami (now Florida Grand Opera). His brilliance, boldness, and love of the grand gesture shaped South Florida’s operatic landscape and inspired generations of artists and audiences alike.
Celebrating a Legacy of Vision and Artistry
In 1941, Dr. di Filippi brought opera to Miami with dazzling productions that drew international acclaim. A charismatic impresario, he introduced leading artists to local audiences, nurtured young talent through his decades at the University of Miami School of Music, and made opera a vital part of Florida’s cultural identity. His spirit continues to illuminate every note on today’s stages.
