Long Island-based tenor James A. Mancuso is excited to be a Studio Artist with Florida Grand this season. James graduated from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, in 2019. Since then, he has been an Apprentice and Studio artist at Sarasota Opera for the years of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Recently, he made his debut at Central City Opera as an Apprentice Artist, where he performed the role of Joe in La fanciulla del West. Originally a baritone, James has just finished his fourth season at Sarasota Opera as a Tenor. His most recent roles include Rinuccio in the Bronx Opera’s production of Gianni Schicchi, Yamadori (cover) in at Sarasota Opera’s Madama Butterfly, Uldino (cover) in Giuseppe Verdi’s Attila, and Dormont in Rossini’s charming La scala di seta. He was also the tenor soloist in Beethoven’s Mass in C at the Long Island Symphonic Choral Association Winter concert. He has participated in the ensembles of many operas this past Winter season such as Ernani, Don Giovanni, and Massenet’s one act opera Thérèse. He looks forward to sharing beautiful music with fellow artists in South Florida.
