CaitlinMezzo-soprano Caitlin McKechney returns to Florida Grand Opera’s Young Artist Program for a second year after being seen as Myrtale (Thaïs) and Inez (Vores’ No Exit) in 2014. Recent engagements outside of South Florida include Flora (La Traviata) with Opera North in 2014, Third Lady (The Magic Flute) and Tisbe (La Cenerentola) with Nashville Opera in 2013, and Maddalena (Rigoletto) with Opera Memphis in 2013. Other stage credits include Carmen (Carmen) and Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana) with New York Lyric Opera in 2012, Hansel (Hansel and Gretel) with Amore Opera in 2011, and Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti) with Chicago Opera Vanguard in 2010, among others. Equally versed in musical theater and operetta, Caitlin has also been seen in such roles as Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls) with Center Stage Theater in 2010, Tessa (Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondoliers) with The Savoyaires in 2010, and Lilli Vanessi/Katherine (Kiss Me Kate) with Nightblue Theater in 2007. Additionally, she is a member of the New York-based new music ensemble Hotel Elefant, and is one of the founding members of The Opera Cowgirls, a touring group that brings opera to the masses in a really fun way.
