Bass Adam Lau received a Bachelor’s degree at Whitman College and recently completed his Master of Music degree at Rice University. Recent credits include Timur in Turandot at West Bay Opera, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro at the Symphony and Opera Academy of the Pacific, the Bartender in Bolcom’s A Wedding at Music Academy of the West, Masetto in Don Giovanni at Rice University, Dr. Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Leporello in Don Giovanni, and King Louis XVI in Corigliano’s The Ghost of Versailles with the Aspen Opera Theater Center. This season at FGO he will perform the roles of Colline in La Bohème, Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte, Alessio in La sonnambula and Marquis d’Obigny in La Traviata. Before coming to FGO this summer he goes to the Aspen Music Festival where he will be singing Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte and George Wilson in Harbison’s The Great Gatsby. At the end of the summer, he has been invited by Lieder Alive! to sing in a master class series with Hakan Hagegard. Mr. Lau’s awards and accomplishments include Finalist: Northwest Region MONCA and the Houston Grand Opera McCollum Competition, Audience Choice Award: Houston Grand Opera McCollum Competition, First Place: Henry & Maria Holt West Bay Opera Competition, First Place and Audience Favorite Award: Portland District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Encouragement Award: Marilyn Horne Foundation, and Western Regional Finalist: Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
